My hearing was tested and the audiologist said I have a rather steep loss of high frequency and that I could benefit from hearing aids.

My follow up appointment with the hearing aid tech is scheduled for 03.21.18.
The person that scheduled that appointment tells me I will go home with hearing aids that day.

I have no idea which hearing aids I will be issued.

I am using this time to learn what I can about hearing aids to hopefully allow me to accept and wear them.
I was surprised to read that a lot of people don't wear them after getting them.
I can understand the reasons that cause that but it is hard for me to understand why they don't seem to try and resolve their issues.

My reading, so far, has caused me to revisit my expectations of what the hearing aids will do for me.
What I have read has taught me that what I was expecting would cause me great disappointment in the hearing aids.

I hope and think the reevaluating of my expectations will make my acceptance and use of hearing aids more probable.

Either way.......I have great excitement and look forward to getting my hearing aids.

It is good to meet you.
Chris

Hello Chris
I myself have high frequency loss and I also was unsure about the hearing aids but I felt that every conversation I had with people or my spouse and kids I kept asking them I didn't hear what they were saying and they had to keep repeating themselves and they were getting frustrated and so was I
I have had my hearing aids for 2 months now and wow what a difference I should have done this years ago
yes they do take sometime to get use to but it is worth it.

John

Thank you John.
That is exactly what I have been experiencing in conversations.........and the 'WOW what a difference" is what I was hoping for. :)

Hey Chris

When you were in they should have told you what hearing aids you will be getting as they did with me and yes first appointment was the test and consulting on which aids were best for me and they have taken the impressions for the ear molds then I went back in 2 weeks for the aids when the molds arrived..
just remember when you get them keep them in to get us to.

By the way mine I can stream music and answer my cell I absolutely love them

I am getting mine through Veteran Affairs......there is really no telling what their process is. They might just issue them to me....or that appointment in March might be the ear mold and ordering phase and the person making the appointment might have been wrong about going home with hearing aids that day. with the VA you never know.

Will post after I get them.
