I have an optical system for my sound bar with an optical splitter for the hearing aid link. I just bought a new Samsung TV and found there is no optical out.

The remedy is an HDMI audio extractor. I bought one for $50 at Best Buy because I did not want to wait for delivery (Amazon has them starting at $25). The extractor has optical out so I can hook up my old optical soundbar and also use the Avantree Audikast 4HA for auracast. I hate the bluetooth hookup because it occasionally has connection issues.

I was wrong about using a regular HDMI Extractor because it needs a TV with an HDMI out to the box then back to an HDMI in so it can process the audio signal.

New TVs should have HDMI eARC and that takes an HDMI eARC to optical cable adapter. About $25. Has HDMI cable end with a USB-A for power from the TV and an optical cable all manufactured together.
