I would not be surprised if smoking damaged your hearing. I mean look what it does to your lungs and other organs! They are also finding that smokers who also drink have a much higher chance of developing cancer of the esophagus, my own brother in law died from this cancer and he was a heavy...
Hearing aids should help you hear better in areas that you are having trouble hearing in, especially if your loss is a mild one. If you are having trouble hearing on the phone a Bluetooth streamer will help you hear since you will hear the conversation in both ears, not just one. You also are...
Most Bluetooth streamers that are available from your HA manufacturer have the ability to stream the audio to your HA's either by Bluetooth with one of their TV adapters or they have a 2.5 or3.5mm jack biult into the streamer that allows you to connect to the audio out on your TV with a patch...
If you are new to hearing aids I would try at least two different manufacturers of HA's to see if you like the sound of one manufacturer over the other. I tried Phonak and found their sound to be mechanical sounding and then tried Oticon and found theirs to be very natural.
One problem you can come across is if you have a small auricle, since you might not have enough room for a temple on your glasses and a BTE HA. Solutions to the problem could be getting glasses with smaller temples or getting a mini BTE.

Lost my high frequency hearing due to measles and mumps in a months time when I was 4 years old. It was only in the 4-6,000Hz range at first and has progressed over the years and now is mild/moderate in the mid frequencies and severe/profound in the HF.

Did you get one or two rebuilt for the $280? Also, how old is the HA? As for the battery issue, what you have to realize is your audi probably has several thousand patients and to keep track of what batteries they are using in their HA is probably a hopeless task. Yes, she probably should of...
