    Queston about Phonak Q90s

I believe the t means that it has a telecoil or as Phonak calls it an induction coil.

    Tinnitus + Hyperacusis

Bill, You might want to ask your doctor why they prescribed a drug for you that is known to be Ototoxic. Your anxiety level might improve regarding the tinnitus and hyperacusis but your hearing loss could get worse.

Do you have very small ear canals? If yes, that could be the cause.

Gary, Your voice sounding hollow could be from to large of dome or too small of vent if you have earmolds.

    digital Volume control question

Kevin, Most HA's have x number of up volume and X number of down volume settings, my Oticon have 4 up and 8 down. To get no sound coming in the audi usually set up a mute program for this purpose. The beeps on most aids can be turned off, but are usually put in the on position to enable you...

    Hi

Matt, With over 20 HA manufacturers in the world, there are a lot of different models out there. Go to an ENT for a checkup and then on to an audiologist or hearing instrument specialist if you need hearing aids and they will show you what aids will work for your loss.

    Beltone VS. Phonak

You may be a truly gifted and caring audiologist, but even you make mistakes and show your ignorance. I have no issues with audiologist as a whole as long as they know what they are doing, leave the used car salesmen approach at home and don't gouge their clients. You say, "you are tired of...

    Beltone VS. Phonak

To tell you the truth, I didn't even read his list, just scanned over it. I figured he was just trying to impress us with his knowledge and overblown ego. The sad part is that he and others like him are a large part of the problem with our nations healthcare industry: they think they have a...

    Beltone VS. Phonak

Rasmus, You've got to admit it's an impressive list, but I'm with you in believing he was pouring over the textbooks to come up with the list, since it took him a week to respond. My mother worked with a surgeon who despite finding his cancer early, would not let anyone operate on him...

    Beltone VS. Phonak

Audiologist, Very impressive bit of knowledge, but I would hope you would have committed all this to memory over doing the same thing for the last 15 years, I would bet a HIS specialist would also amassed an equally impressive bit of knowledge with 15 years of experience too. However, I hope...

    My first HAs

Best thing to do is keep the journal, it should help a lot. See if you can get in every couple days or at least once a week until you are close to liking how they sound and work for you. They all seem to make the adjustments in their quiet office and then ask you how it sounds, like you are...

    My first HAs

It sounds like you haven't been back for any adjustments yet. Keep a journal listing all the problems you are having and when they happen and show it to your audiologist on the next visit. It's going to take some time to get the aids adjusted to your liking. Good luck.

    Beltone VS. Phonak

Audiologist, Now here is another one of your problem posts. You say "lets see a hearing doctor with 9 years of college training or a hearing aid salesman with a GED???" In a previous post you said you received 4-5 years of extensive training at the post graduate level specific to hearing loss...

    Beltone VS. Phonak

Rasmus, It also sounds like someone losing a lot of business to these other sellers and is not real happy about it. He may be also be having regrets about spending all that money going to school, when he could of spent a lot less time and money in becoming a hearing instrument specialist...

    Beltone VS. Phonak

And once again you said it best ," you only have a 20% chance of being responsibly/accurately fit with a hearing aid in this country" and from that comment it doesn't seem to make a difference if you go to an audiologist or a hearing instrument specialist to get hearing aids because you only...

    Cic to bte

Terry, I think the Alta Pro's are good HA's but I don't know from personal experience. I can say that I like the Agil Pro's that preceded them which i have. The Agil Pro's are very clear sounding when listening to real live people as well as listening to the TV. Maybe you can ask your audi...

    Cic to bte

Terry, Yes, different brand hearing aids do have different sounds: I found Phonak and Rexton to have a mechanical sound, but found Oticon and Resound to have a very similar more natural sound. The hair sound may be driving you nuts right now but you will tune it out over time. With further...

The always asked question.. for newbies to HA's

Rich forgot to say that with Costco you will get a 90 day trial and 100% of your money back if you return the HA's. Audiologist will only give you 30 days or 45 if mandated by state law and if you return the aids they will keep some of your money for the time they spent on you, this amount is...

    Feedback

It sounds like it's either a moisture or wax trap or it could be a filter. They do get clogged with moisture or wax and if one is there you need to replace it with one from your audi. I also doubt that it is causing the feedback issues you are having, talk to your audi and see if they can make...
