    Tinnitus

Since the audi can see my face, or at least one side of it, she probably can see me give a "is that a tone or tinnitus I hear" look.

    Loops, etc

I tried/have ear hooks & neckloop. I prefer the neckloop because I don't like the wires hanging from my ears. I haven't used either of them for a few years because I have a ComPilot (and before that the iCom) which works with my Phonak HAs.

    First aids?

I am late-deafened and it was detected during a routine physical about 7 months after my first child was born (someone has said the pregnancy or delivery may have triggered a domant hearing loss gene that I inherited from my mom). I was not advised to get a hearing aid at that time, but about...

    Hearing Aids in Movies?

Why do you think that? I would guess the majority of people wearing HAs do not know sign language, so most people would not associate wearing HAs with using sign language.

How often do you change the battery in your hearing aid?

I get close to 3 weeks out of mine (675's). We must remember that it's not just the quality of the batteries, but the strength of the HAs and how long we were them each day and if we use them with assitive devices.

How did you lose your hearing?

No, mostly nerves with a little bit conductive. I was in my mid-30's (slow to marry, slow to have kids).

How many hearing aids (and/or CIs) do you wear?

Started with one as only one ear had hearing loss at that time. 5 years later, when finding out if my HA needed any tweaking found out the other ear now needed a HA. So have been wearing two for about 10 years.

    Tinnitus

It varies. I would say I have it 24/7 but only notice it when someone mentions tinnitus (thanks Alex :D ) or when I don't have my HAs in. I have both low freq (humming) & high freq (hard to describe). Probably because I both types of losses.

How did you lose your hearing?

I inherited a gene from my mom. It may be triggered by pregnancy or child birth. I was diagnosed with some hearing loss about 7 months after my firstborn's birth during a routine hearing test at work. I didn't start noticing the hearing loss till about 7 years later and at that time started...

What is your hearing aid's brand?

Phonak because they had the most powerful at the time I was looking for new aids. Wanted the most powerful so I'd have "room" for more hearing loss. Luckily my hearing is pretty steady for now.
