My wife lost a Phonak audeo m70. The price to replace it was close to a new pair - which she bought. As part of the deal the technician reconfigured the single aid for me. This was fine as I have one hear almost completely deaf.

It all worked well and is brilliant for the phone and listening to speech radio via bluetooth. The problem was that the volume slider in the app was greyed out. I followed the Phonak troubleshooting guide, deleted the device from my bluetooth pairing and told the app to forget about the device.

I then paired the device and now the slider works perfectly. The problem is that it no longer works for streaming or the phone. When I turn on an iPhone app which streams audio I no longer see the Phonak option. I can still see and use the icons for the external bluetooth speakers.

The fear if that if I reconfigure everything again I might lose both functions.

Any bright ideas anyone?

This AI Overview may, or may not be helpful;

If your Phonak M70 hearing aid has lost its Bluetooth connection for streaming, the issue can often be resolved by
restarting your devices or re-pairing them completely. Bluetooth connections can sometimes be unstable due to software glitches or interference.
Step 1: Perform a simple restart
Start with the easiest fixes, as these resolve the majority of connection problems.
  • Restart your hearing aids:
    • For rechargeable models: Press and hold the power button on each hearing aid until the light turns red, then press and hold again to turn them back on.
    • For disposable battery models: Open the battery doors for 5 seconds and then close them again.
  • Restart your phone: Turn your smartphone completely off and then back on.
  • Toggle Bluetooth: Go to your phone's settings, turn Bluetooth off for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Close other apps: Close all other background applications on your phone to prevent interference with the Bluetooth connection.
Step 2: Unpair and re-pair your devices
If a simple restart doesn't work, you will need to perform a full reset of the Bluetooth connection. This involves deleting the hearing aids from both your phone and the MyPhonak app before pairing them again.
  1. Delete from phone's Bluetooth settings:
    • iPhone: Go to Settings > Bluetooth. Tap the "i" icon next to each Phonak connection (there may be multiple entries) and select Forget This Device.
    • Android: Go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth. Tap the gear icon next to each Phonak connection and choose Unpair or Forget.
  2. Forget devices in the MyPhonak app:
    • Open the MyPhonak app on your phone.
    • Go to the Devices section and select My hearing aids.
    • Tap Forget my devices.
  3. Initiate re-pairing:
    • Restart your hearing aids again to put them into pairing mode.
    • Go back to your phone's main Bluetooth settings menu and wait for the hearing aids to appear in the list of available devices.
    • Select the single Phonak device that appears (this connects both hearing aids for streaming) and confirm the pairing request.
  4. Reconnect through the MyPhonak app:
    • Open the MyPhonak app and tap Pair new device to reconnect the app's features. The app will find and connect to both hearing aids.
Step 3: Troubleshoot for specific issues
If the problem persists, try these additional steps.
  • Audio streaming to one ear: If you only lose streaming in one ear, reboot the affected hearing aid by turning it off and on again. Moving your phone closer to the hearing aids can also help.
  • Check for interference: Other Bluetooth devices or strong Wi-Fi signals can interfere with the connection. Try moving to a new area to see if the connection improves.
  • Keep software updated: Ensure both your phone's operating system and the MyPhonak app are running the latest versions.
  • Hard reset the hearing aids: If the hearing aids are completely unresponsive, you may need a hard reset. For rechargeable models, place them in the powered charger and wait for the light to blink green.
If you are still unable to fix the connection, reply back?

Though, perhaps it could be related to the necessity of pairing to only one ear, and maybe a pairing failure because of that? I dunno??? If so, you may have to define the unusual one-ear-pairing via your own self programming setup, or go back to your audiologist to do a quick re-setup for one ear???

Note this (both hearing aids note) from the above AI Overview and check to see if MyPhonak app gives you any one-ear options?
  1. Reconnect through the MyPhonak app:
    • Open the MyPhonak app and tap Pair new device to reconnect the app's features. The app will find and connect to both hearing aids.
