Specsavers have just told me that my 6 year old Advance ADV661 hearing aid (one of a pair) is obsolete and cannot be repaired. I suspect that, like last time, the wire connecting the hearing aid to the 'loudspeaker' in my ear is snapped at the base of the HA.

1. It seems to be difficult to locate a repair shop that can look at these ? Any recommendations ?

2. What is the typical planned lifetime of hearing aids ?

3. Are there any makes known for their reliability/longevity ?

4. Any other suggestions ?

TIA,

Peter

Specsavers Advance hearing aids are a proprietary, white-label product range manufactured for Specsavers by major global hearing aid companies—primarily Signia (Sivantos/WSAudiology), Phonak (Sonova), and GN ReSound.

GN ReSound provides platform for select Advance lines

if your Model were manufactured by the GN Group / ReSound , the exact model family depends on when the respective generation was released:
• Current generation (more recent fittings): It is usually based on the ReSound Nexia or ReSound OMNIA platform.
• Older generation: If it is an older model, it corresponds to the ReSound ONE platform.

You could do DIY and exchange the receiver (loudspeaker) by yourself. The receiver and the wire are one part.
You need to find out:
- which side (left ear or right ear)
- the length of the wire
- the power of the speaker

You can obtain the correct receiver at ebay or via other online sellers. You need to purchase a receiver with the exact same specificatons as the broken one. Look closely on the housing of the broken receiver to find the data (for Power and Length) you are looking for.
For the ear-side (left/right) you should obviously know this (hint: red is right , blue is left)

You can search on youtube for video tutorials how to change the receiver of ReSound (Beltone / Jabra) hearing aids
Like this (for a ReSound ONE hearing aid)

Thank you for all of this, I really appreciate it. It is a GNReSound manufactured 1/3/2020. I will look into this further.
