Hello:
Hi everyone,

I’m new to the forum. I recently got the Phonak Infinio I30R hearing aids to replace my rarely used Oticon Ria2 Pro.

I’ve been searching online reviews but can’t find any about the I30R. All the information I find is about the Spheres, not the I30, 50, 70, or 90 Infinio Audeo (non-Sphere). I saw a comparison table on Phonak’s website, but the jargon was technical.

What’s important for me compared to the 50, 70, or 90 that could affect my hearing?
Things that are important to me
(1) Good streaming/Bluetooth connection (so far, I am happy with this).
(2) Speech in noise.
(3) I love hearing music with very good sound.

The only thing I don't like about them are the domes (I tried all Phonak Marvel sizes) so I put the Oticon Bass 8mm and these are super comfortable. Audiologist says it is ok to do this.

Note that I’m not looking for i30 vs Sphere. There are many reviews and posts about the Sphere and I understand well the benefit they provide.
I just want to know if I a missing tons of features that could be very useful for my hearing.

Thanks in advance.
O.S.

Oh, wait. That's the wrong document. Okay, I fixed the tricky link above.
Perhaps the levels (Premium, Advanced, Standard, Essentia) equates to (90, 70, 50, 30).

The problem with this document, as I mentioned before , is that there is plenty of technical jargon and I have no clue , from the customer point of view , if those additional features are worth thousand of $$ more that will benefit me . Yes , I see that “tap to answer” or “use Siri” but what else from the customer perspective ? Should I explore the Costco options if they are significantly better ?

Let's make sure we are talking about the same document. Sometimes different countries may have different views;

Here's a clip;

That is likely coming from your Browser setup and not from Phonak. I use a browser Addon Extension (Ublock Origin Lite). No "use Siri" here.

Yes, you should look at Costco hearing aids for good value. They are good. Better? Which Costco model compared to which Phonak model? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also Costco Signature models (in the past) were actually Phonak hearing aid models. You can read a DIY School Hearing Aids (v2.2) PDF File named (Costco USA Hearing Aid Models).

DIY School Hearing Aids (v2.2) access portals are at your finger tips via 24/7 cloud storage access.
  • Start here → DIY School Hearing Aids (v2.2) to find the access portals
  • You can easily find the Access Portals again/anytime, by clicking any PVC Avatar (click twice - counting the 2nd popup Avatar)
  • When logged in, you can find the Access Portals again/anytime, by clicking a Link in my Signature
  • And finally, you can perform a simple Internet search for "DIY School Hearing Aids"

I had not seen the performance table, that gives me a better idea of the differences. Thanks for sharing it.
I'm still not finding many reviews on non-sphere infinios... almost all the comments, reviews are for the Sphere. I'll check the links you shared.
SO far what I have is working for me :)

Thank you so much O.S.!!!! I just got new phonak hearing hearing aids via a government disability program in B.C. I am 64. The last hearing aids I had were Signia's and I really liked them. I had one problem in the 3 years I had them.

The Phonaks I hated at first. The store I got them from has a hearing technician, not an audiologist. I had been complaining about the domes from the day I received my Phonaks only to be told that there were really none but a few to choose from and I was wearing the smallest one. However, I felt a lot of pressure/squeezing sensations in my ears from the dome (shaped like a beehive and the consistency of rubbery soft goo).

I was ready to give them back and cause a fuss, but lucky for me being the great researcher I found your post. When the techie tried them he could not get them on and showed me another pair shaped like a flying saucer but they too were uncomfortable. But low and behold he was fiddling with the Oticon Bass 8mm and got them on (Hallelujah!!!!) When he passed them to me I put them on and wow they were as comfortable as my signia domes were!

Anyway, I wanted to thank you very much for your post and informative life/hearing altering information! J.t.

I switched from the OticonBass 2 vent to the Oticon OpenBass, it has a more open feeling but performs like the Bass domes.
Glad my post was able to help! I never went back to the Phonak domes.
