Learning about hearing aid devices

hi, I'm trying to learn as I go with hearing aid devices, my father uses hearing aid devices but his insurance only works with TruHearing and they seen to be expensive ( over 2k ). if I purchase them on the internet do they have to be program ? can I do it ? the Dr at hear USA gave him the TH 7 rip Li T, are this any good for that price ?
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated

TruHearing is a rebadged Signia aid, which is among the top brands of hearing aids (the TH 7 Premium is a rebagded Signia 7IX, you don't say if he got the premium or the entry level).

You can get exactly the same device at Costco (It's called the Rexton Reach) for $1600 including fitting, programming, etc. There is no reason to buy on the internet if Costco is near you unless you do want a very specific aid (like Widex). that is not sold at Costco.

Yes, you have to get professional programming and fitting and private audiologist. That can cost ~$500 (new patient intake, fitting, audiogram, etc).
