Having hearing issues for years following an auto accident; found this forum today & hope you can help! Just the other day I discovered that by separating my ears in my Phonak/Sennheiser App, I could hear much better. However, there are problems with that. About 7 yrs w/HAs & this is a major improvement for me. Why didn’t someone think of this before! I’m sorry in advance for the length of this post but please bear with me. I really need input from all of you. Took K10s in for refurb. Was given loners (Sennheiser). Could barely hear in the L aid. Figured something wrong with that L aid but decided though to just keep them as I’d have my own back quickly. But during that nite, thinking about it, wondered what would happen if I separated the aids in the app. In morning i opened app & did just that. OMG, I could hear significantly better than I’ve hear over the past 7+ years. Then tried to figure out if I could save the setting as a new program. Seemed to have worked. But the app, when opened to this new program, didn’t show the separation of the volume. The app showed the ears equal in volume even though it seemed I could still hear as if they were separated, Then I wanted to “adjust” this new setting further so clicked on that. Well, when that screen opens, there is no way to “adjust” each ear separately that I can find. This separation of the ears that I stumbled on is a real game changer for me. I wondered why no one, including myself, thought about doing this over the years. Does anyone have any input about all of this for me? Is there a way for a person to separate the hearing aids, then make adjustments to each one independent of the other? Any input / help / ideas / suggestions would be truly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes you can separate hearing aids during a programming session. Typically, you can find a symbol of two circles joined together; Then if you click that symbol the two circles will split apart and become two separate circles, in other words separated and ready to be programmed separately.

But this is a really odd choice. You should attempt to find out why your hearing aids (or OTC Buds) sound better as separates.
  • Perhaps you can post your Audiogram (see linked example in my Signature line below my post).

Yes, I did the separation of the aids showing the two circles. However, after doing that, I thought I could save that setting as a new program on the app. Then I hoped to be able to adjust each separately. That is not possible. Although I did a "save" after separating each and moving the volume up to "2" on the left and down to "2" on the right, saving was impossible let alone trying to adjust each separately. As to trying to find out why the aids sound better separated, I have an appointment for a new test this Friday. However, it does seem logical that each hear could be "hearing" differently from the other! After the test on Friday, I'll have a new Audiogram which should show something. But it seems, if you can separate them on the app, then logically to me each should be able to be "adjusted" separately but that is not possible from what I have seen and tried.

by the way, I wear K10s regularly but they are out for refurbishing and I am now on loan with Seinheiser.

Sorry, (OTC Buds) are restricted to whatever you can do in the provided App which should be well documented.
