Hi All,
I'm reading that the WIDEX Allure is fit with a cloud-based application. I take it that this means it will be impossible to do-it-yourself fitting with these, because it will not be possible to get access to that cloud app (unless you're an audi selling Widex). Anyone have different information?
Thanks
ATM

Yep, you may be right. Do you have a reference link mentioning the cloud-based application?

I don't see any updates past Compass GPS 4.8 which is for (MOMEMT models and previous models before MOMENT).

The following message is from mywidexPRO.com:
The new Widex ALLURE is programmable exclusively through Widex Compass Cloud — the worlds first cloud-based hearing aid fitting software. To start fitting ALLURE, you will need to create a login to the Widex Digital Service Suite. Call 1.800.221.0188 Option 1 to get started.

OIC; It looks like the fitting software will still be available, and you still have to download and install the fitting software on your computer.

BUT, you will need to provide an (ID number-and-password) to use it. They may, or may not monitor these ID numbers closely. But if a bunch of DIYers all start using the same (ID number-and-password), that is likely to attract attention.
  • Step 1: Click on the "Download TeamViewer Remote Assistance" button above to download TeamViewer, save the download to your computer.
  • Step 2. Find the file that was downloaded and double click to install the application.
  • Step 3. Run the Install.
  • Step 4. Read the disclaimer and click "Accept".
  • Step 5. The application will open the following window, please provide your ID number displayed to the Widex USA support representative at 800-221-0188.

HMm; Others too? Or only Widex?

Oh? Philips makes many other different products.
And, Siemens' hearing aid division merged into Sivantos Group in 2015 and in 2019, Sivantos merged with WS Audiology.
So the Logos below are likely, unrelated.

that team viewer is likely for support to troubleshoot issues such as connection problems or bugs.
the cloud software opens up many problems.
i would think the login means that eventually they might even charge the user of the software,
they could also block hearing aids from being re-used. (once the device is paired with one user it cannot be re-paired to a new user. as the server would know. who it bought it)
it is possible that the software interacts with the server only for somethings. and the local computer does the processing and setup of the aids.
but its also possible. that the software is basically a website. and all data is set and stored in the cloud on widex servers.
i always go with the most pessimistic view when companies go to cloud apps.
they could also effectively turn any low end 110 model to a high end 440 model. by the user paying a license at any point
usually it is to prevent reuse of old equipment. and force consumers to buy new items from authorized sources.
they call it safety and security, but it is just greed

Yeah, it's difficult to pin-down exactly how this works?? What happens when your (ISP/Internet-Service-Provider) goes down? It happens!

Will the Widex Audiologists just cancel all appointments, and closeup their shop for a day?

No I don't have a link, and I am guessing that you have to be an audiologist that sells WIDEX to get a link to it.

I called that 800 number and asked for a login. They said they do not allow it for anyone but audiologists selling Widex.

I wonder how this will reduce Widex sales. DIYers and even some audiologists might not like this cloud approach which seems to reduce value. Early reviews have the software being limited for now compared to Compass GPS.

I was comparing the smartric and allure and checking the data sheet.
i saw the manual for widex compass cloud.
the manual says that you need to install noah 4. as it is used for its database.
so atleast the user data is still kept on the local computer. it does make clear that compass cloud is a webapp and you need to be using google chome.
maybe noah 4 can program the allure. it would probably be missing the widex rationale if it could. i dont know much about noah 4.

ill put a link to the manual maybe it helps someone
link widex compass cloud manual

Noah 4 does not (and cannot) program anything. It has a database to store client data, and then it starts whatever hearing aid fitting software is required for the selected client's hearing aid models. Noah ES has similar functionality, except that Noah ES itself, is cloud based.

But the (fly in your soup/issue) is that you need to provide your (Widex professional account ID number and password) to use Compass Cloud.

Clip below from DIY School earing Aids (v2.2) PDF File named (02 How to Program your Hearing Aids);
Don’t use the Noah system software (currently Noah4 or Noah-ES). Noah system software is never required for any manufacturer’s fitting software. Professional Audiologists need the Noah system software to group many clients into a one Noah database and provide automatic startup interfaces for the different manufacturer’s fitting software. If you are a self-programmer, it is simpler and cheaper to run the manufacturer’s fitting software standalone. When fitting software is run standalone it will use its own database. Repeat,,, Do not use the Noah System software!

Exactly. I like Widex HAs. (using Beyond 440s since ~2017). I am planning to upgrade. A DIY programming option is a must for me. I made about 40 slight adjustments to my profile before settling on one that works very well for me. I don't have enough hours in my life to schedule and make 40 audi appointments.

Send Widex a message with your thoughts and ask it to enable Allure to work with Compass GPS in addition to Compass Cloud: https://www.mywidexpro.com/wps/portal/us/menu/contact-us-

Well, it has been a month and Widex never even acknowledged my email to the support desk. Time to move on.

I am planning to test Phonak Audéo Sphere Infinio and Oticon Intent HAs for my next set.

If they did reply, it would only be a brief reply telling you to go pound sand with your fists.
Their clients are Audiologist (who pay them $money$) ;)

The audiologist I went to discouraged me from Widex after learning that I require DIY programming. She thinks the cloud software is less functional anyway. I'll keep the Beyond 440s with Compass as an emergency backup.
