Widex Compass GPS 4.8 - New Release - May 2024

GPS updater downloaded and installed the update. Not much new, operates fine (no cloud) on my PC... so far!

As you can see from the above image of a selection screen for RIC/RITE hearing aid models, it is not!!

Perhaps this means that all new models will be handled by the recently announced cloud version?

I think if this really happens, Widex will lose a significant market share. A significant departure from industry standards always ends badly. This is the path to the Ghetto. How will the "Cloud Service" take data from the NOAH? And many more questions...

NOAH 4.16 RELEASE WITH IMPORTANT SECURITY UPDATE FOR NOAH 4

BINAURAL TEST MODE
For the test modes available under Quality assurance (Reference test gain and Full-on gain), you can now
start the test modes binaurally. This allows you to test two hearing aids at a time, thus saving time.

CHECK FOR A NEW COMPASS GPS VERSION
In the About dialogue box, available from the Help menu, we have added a link to the COMPASS GPS
Updater. This provides an easy and quick possibility to check whether an update of the software is available.
If a new version of the software is available and you need to update, you must remember to close both
COMPASS GPS and Noah before you start the update..

QR CODES IN HA USER GUIDE
In the HA user guide available under the Print feature, you can now see which apps you can use with the
selected hearing aids. You can use the QR code shown for each available app to get direct access to the
app in App Store or Play Store on a smartphone.

NEW INSTALLATION SLIDE SHOW
For this version of COMPASS GPS, we have updated
the slide show displayed during installation. We have
added a set of brand-new pictures to display.
We have also added information about the software and
the help options in one of the installation windows.

QUICK GUIDES AND DATA SHEETS IN THE CLOUD
We have placed the data sheets and the quick guides used in COMPASS GPS in a cloud solution and made
them available from COMPASS GPS. In this way, we can provide updates of these documents without
having to wait for a new version of COMPASS GPS.
Note, that if you do not have internet access, the documents are still available and will be opened from your
installed COMPASS GPS version. Whether the documents are opened from the cloud or from your
installation, they will still open in the PDF viewer that you are used to seeing.

REMOTE CARE UPDATE
If you are using REMOTE CARE, you should note that as of February 1, 2025, the old video solution built
into the feature stopped working.
This means that you must use COMPASS GPS V4.6 or newer and REMOTE CARE app V1.4.0 or newer to
make video calls with your clients. Video calls are no longer possible with older versions.
 
My guess is that they will maintain two versions of Compass GPS for a period of time;
  • this updateable-via-builtin-updater version
  • the other, new updateable-via-cloud version
with the difference being that, (by design) the updateable-via-builtin-updater version will always lack new hearing aid models and will fade into legacy hearing aid model history.
 
Hello all. I just found this forum while searching for a Compass GPS software download. I had been using Compass GPS 4.3 (I believe) with a Widex USB link to update my Beyond 400s. I had to replace my hard drive and need to reinstall the software. Can someone please share a link for the current GPS software?

I have been thinking about updating my HAs. I have done well with Widex HAs. I tweak the programming often until I get to a profile that works well for me. Being able to do this would definitely be a factor in selecting my next HA.

Hello PVC, also looking for a PM for "info on how to find Widex Compass GPS 4.9". Much appreciated in advance.

I have Widex Moment mRic 440 and use the ProLink connection on Windows 10 (can't upgrade that computer!, so I guess I just need the latest that will work Windows 10). Been stuck on Compass GPS 4.2 for a long while.
